Shataka's Monologue

Shataka

I am one of the 12,000 dolls given to Japan in 1927, when a friendship exchange through dolls was planned by Dr. Gulick and many volunteers as an international goodwill project.

Now I have about 300 sisters throughout Japan. However, I have heard many of my other sisters were destroyed as "enemy dolls" during World War II. That event was very sad.

For 75 long years I have seen the wonderful children of Johnan Elementary School. I would like to introduce to today's children the history of Johnan Elementary School that I have seen.
