Blue-eyed Dolls

May Weber

At left is one of the dolls given in 1927 to Japanese elementary schools by America as a project by Dr. Gulick for Japanese-American friendship. A total of 12,739 dolls were given at that time, but the number of dolls existing now is 285. May Weber made a homecoming one time in 1978 and was introduced to Americans. In 1992, a second Blue-eyed Doll named Patsy was given by Mr. Gulick, 3d. The two dolls are kept together now in the principal's office.
